What is Experiential Learning? As it's name suggests, Experiential Learning could be most simply understood as learning by doing. Experiential Learning is often associated with contructivist learning theory. Why is Experiential Learning useful? The old adage of 'nothing beats some hands on experience' applies here. Through putting students in situations to build real world experiences, experiences that have both benefits and consequences, students are able to put their learnings into practice.
Despite being a viable alternative to traditional classroom setting, there are still some people who feel that Homeschooling is not for everyone. Like many things, this new system of education has its disadvantages.
"To Read or Not to Read?" This is the title of a three year study on reading trends in the US released by the National Endowment for the Arts. The reports concludes that: - voluntary reading rates are dropping - reading skills are "worsening" among teens - adults are becoming less proficient readers. Pretty grim news for people like me who's life is all about books and reading.
An adequate educational evaluation enhances instruction. Just as evaluation impacts student learning and motivation, it also influences the nature of instruction in the classroom. There has been considerable recent literature that has promoted evaluation as something that is integrated with instruction. To her, when evaluation is integrated with instruction it informs teachers about what activities and assignments will be most useful, what level of teaching is most appropriate
