Most people when they think of first computer invented they think Bill Gates. This, however, is not true, for the computer was invented long before Bill Gates was around. Bill Gates only revolutionized the computer, buy creating a more compact and useful form of the computer and making it available to everyone with a job. There are many people out there who would say that the first "computer" was the abacus, invented in Asia about 5000 years ago.
LED, or light emitting diode, technology is something consumers are hearing more and more about from television advertisements, magazine ads and news reports. However, very few people understand why this light source is such a powerful alternative to traditional lighting. The advantages of LED light sources over other technologies are numerous but can be simplified into two main categories: 1.) energy efficiency & longevity and 2.) power & versatility.

That conversation made me think about how we become dependent on these gadgets. Our parents in the 1970's and our family members beforehand did not have cell phones and they managed to survive. I think I know how it happened. First, we become sucked in by the convenience. For instance, cell phones allowed us to talk almost anywhere. It gave us opportunities to carry out business or have conversations more often. We enjoyed the increased productivity and access to others.
Light (particularly sunlight) can be used to create heat or generate electrical power. This is referred to as solar energy. It is a clean form of energy production, which doesn't pollute the environment as some other forms of energy production do. There are two forms of solar energy. The first is solar thermal conversion, which uses sunlight to create heat and then electrical power. The second is photovoltaic conversion, which uses sheets of special materials to create electricity from the sun.
